Growing older does not mean that you have to suffer ill-health. In fact, many people find their peak in later life, and this can be achieved in lots of different ways.

In this article we explore how you can keep healthy, stay fit and feel young for years to come!

Be as active as possible

Don’t worry this does not involve going to the gym. Having said that, a regular gym routine would benefit anybody, but if you are not a fan of working out in a sweaty gym hall there are quite a few things you can do to keep active.

If taking the bus, get off a stop earlier and walk the rest of the way

If the weather is fine, drive out to woodland or your local park and have a wander around. Taking in the beauty of nature whilst walking around is a great way to stay active!

Always take the steps instead of the elevator when possible.

Take vitamin pills

Studies have proven that a sensible diet complemented with vitamin pills can help to keep you healthy. In particular, cod liver oil pills are useful for older people because they offer vitamins that help to keep joints and muscles in good health.

Consistency is key here if you are going to take vitamin pills then you should take them daily, preferably at the same time after a small meal or with a glass of milk.

Look after the grandkids!

Looking after young children is a fantastic way to stay healthy (contrary to what you might think!). Kids exude youthful vibrance and this and this can really have a positive effect on you. Take them out for lunch, play games with them or simply read them stories all of this will help to keep your mind and body active and constantly challenged.

Do more of what you enjoy

If you have reached retirement age, it is time to stop thinking about working and just do what you love. This could be travel (cruises are always a popular choice), the pursuit of a new hobby you always wanted to do or just more socialising with friends and loved ones.

Maintaining happiness in life is good for the mind, body and soul. It will leave you feeling good and you will enjoy all round better health.
