Breast implants can often help add to a women’s self-esteem and can aid in having a more positive body image. Breast implants can enhance the appearance of the breasts by increasing the size and improving the shape of the breasts. Since breast implants are usually an elective surgery, the cost of them is usually not covered by insurance and can often be very expensive and unaffordable for many patients.  Fortunately, there are excellent plastic surgeons who can provide the very highest quality breast implants at very affordable rates. Read on to learn more about high quality cheap breast implants.

3 Main Types of Breast Implants – Silicone Gel Implants, “Gummy Bear” Implants and Saline Implants

There are 3 main types of breast implants which are approved by the FDA. All 3 types of implants consist of a silicone outer shell filled with either silicone, highly cohesive silicone (also known as a “gummy bear” implant) or saline.

Silicone Gel Implants

Silicone gel implants are filled with a silicone gel which gives a feel and a shape which is more like natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are the softest type of breast implant and usually have less of a rippling, folding, and wrinkling effect after implantation.

Highly Cohesive Silicone Gel Implants

Highly Cohesive Silicone Gel Implants which are also known as “gummy bear implants” are thicker and firmer than traditional silicone gel implants. These types of implants have an enhanced long term performance with lower rates of both rupture and rippling. They also have a lower rate of contraction of the capsule than traditional silicone or saline implants. Highly cohesive silicone gel implants provide a better long term shape and enhanced projection. In addition, they have lower rates of malposition, bulging out and of “bottoming out.” Gummy bear implants tend to be more expensive then silicone or saline implants which are cheaper breast implants.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline breast implants are filled with sterile saline (saltwater) and are usually used for those who wish to avoid silicone containing implants. Saline implants which are usually filled during surgery provide more breast upper pole fullness and projection. A rupture of this type of implant is easier to detect than with either a silicone or gummy bear silicone implant. Saline implants also tend to be cheaper implants than those implants containing silicone.

Conclusion

Whether a traditional silicone, gummy bear silicone or saline implant is chosen, a high quality cheap breast implant can be obtained through a qualified Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who offers affordable breast implants.
